Where does Switzerland stand in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda?

Sustainable development is an endeavour for society as a whole, which inextricably links the dimensions of society, the environment and the economy. The new website SDGital2030.ch aims to show the diversity of Switzerland's commitment to sustainability. The stocktaking 2018-2022 aims at showing this diverse picture. In addition to the Confederation, cantons and municipalities, organisations from academia, private sector and civil society are therefore also being invited to share their contribution to sustainable development in Switzerland. With its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provides a global reference framework for the three inseparable dimensions of society, the environment and the economy. Switzerland recognises the 2030 Agenda as an important orientation framework for its sustainability policy. The SDGs are a means of setting political goals and shaping opinions for both domestic and foreign policy.

What is it about?

Sustainable development is an endeavour for society as a whole. In addition to the three levels of government (Confederation, cantons and municipalities), the contribution of civil society, the private sector and academia is key. By means of pioneering impulses and concrete activities, you all significantly contribute to achieving the SDGs. By effectively bringing together public, private and civil society partners, synergies for sustainable development can be fostered and negative consequences minimised.

What happens to the information?

The information collected from all participants is published on the new platform SDGital2030.ch, where it can be accessed by the general public in one to four languages. The Federal Council also uses this stocktaking as a basis when it reports on Switzerland's implementation of the 2030 Agenda every four years. The Voluntary National Review, which was presented at the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in July 2022, was the catalyst for the development of the platform.

The information is available to the public and can be used to network with other actors, be inspired by the activities of others and tackle challenges together.
