Introduction of the Schengen Visa with biometric data

On 2 October 2012, the Embassy of Switzerland in Tehran introduced the Schengen Visa with biometric data. Therefore, all visa applicants (who are older than 12 years of age) have to come personally to the Embassy for submitting their visa application. 

Visa applications submitted by third parties can neither be accepted nor processed.


Appointments for application submission

Visa applicants will be received by appointment only. To make an appointment please call 021 2200 84 54 / 55.

It is strongly recommended to arrange the appointment 45 days prior to your departure.


Visa fee

The visa fee has to be paid in Iranian Rial (IRR). As 11 May 2014, the following prices are valid: 
Persons above the age of 12 years:IRR 2‘600‘000.00
Children between 6 and 12 years:IRR 1‘500‘000.00
Children below the age of 6 years:free of charge
Children and spouses of EU nationals:free of charge

The exact amount has to be paid in cash (personal checks and credit cards are not accepted). 

If your application must be submitted to the competent authorities for a decision (e.g. work, sudy or residence visa), an additional postage fee of IRR 175‘000.00 will be charged.


Application forms for tourism, family visit, business trips
It is recommended to apply at least 60 days before the planned trip.
Application form for student visa
The processing time may take up to two months.
