Press releases, 27.04.2024

On Sunday 28 April, Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis will travel to Saudi Arabia for a World Economic Forum special meeting. In his capacity as head of the FDFA, Mr Cassis was invited by his Saudi counterpart to attend the two-day event which aims to bridge the growing North-South divide by promoting global collaboration.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is hosting a special high-level World Economic Forum meeting in its capital Riyadh on 28 and 29 April 2024. The Special Meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth and Energy for Development will bring together leading figures from politics, the public and private sector, international organisations, NGOs, academia and civil society in order to promote dialogue on global issues.

In addition, Mr Cassis will make use of this opportunity to raise pressing global matters such as the situation in the Middle East and Ukraine, including the peace summit announced by Switzerland. A bilateral meeting with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal Bin Farhan AI Saud, is also planned on the margins of the event.
